Vintage Pattberg Novelty Corp. Wooden Cigar Humidor with Blank Monogram Plate

Description

This vintage humidor (an airtight container for keeping cigars or tobacco moist) is a product of the New York firm, Pattberg Novelty Corporation.
It measures approximately 10 3/8” in length by 7 ¼” in width and stands 4 ¼” in height.
This handsome humidor features a brown wooden box with a glass-lined interior base and lid.
Contained within is a removable metal filter that slides into the two wooden notches on the inside of the hinged lid.
Although the original manufacturer label is missing from this piece, I was able to determine that this humidor was made by Pattberg Novelty Corporation, located in New York.
This humidor is in relatively good condition with the exception of the following:
Some nicks, scratches and wear to the wood; s
eparation and splitting of the wood on one back corner and on the back side of the lid; w
ear to the white paint on the underside of the glass lining; b
lemishes or tarnish on the brass monogram plate; f
elt lining on the base is in poor condition and s
ome dings, discoloration and wear to the brown metal filter.  D
espite these flaws this humidor is solid and sturdy, the lid and hinges are all in good working order, the metal filter fits snugly and the wood displays a beautiful patina.
