    Description

Premium Silicon Carbide Polishing, Tumbling, and Lapidary Abrasive Media. Condition is New. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Silicon Carbide (SiC)is an extremely hard (9.5 on MOHS scale) abrasive with sharp edges. It is well suited for non-metallic materials such as concrete, stone, glass, Carbide, and other hard materials. SiC is the hardest blasting media available, allowing for shorter blasting times. It is very fast cutting and can be reused multiple times. It can be used in the glass etching industry and for tumbling rocks, as well as for pressure blasting very hard materials. Rock tumbling with silicon carbide is typically done in steps, starting with a coarser grit like 60/90, followed by tumbling with medium, then finer grits. It is a very environmentally-friendly product that is made from recycled grinding wheels or spent blast media, otherwise destined for the landfill.

    Silicon Carbide (SiC)
Synthetic Silicon Carbide is a silica-free, inert compound with a tough, crystalline structure and a uniform hardness of 9.5 on the MOHS scale (Diamond is 10). It performs as an excellent blast cabinet media where the grit is contained for re-use, capable of up to 8 or more reuses. These properties combined with uniform particle sizing provide high-speed production with excellent visibility (very low dusting) and lower air requirements. Unlike most other blast media, which are natural or by-products, synthetic SiC has uniform properties without random natural weaknesses, making it the most widely used abrasive in the world.
    Abrasive Applications
    Rock Tumbling
    Polishing
    Deburring
    Wire Sawing
Surface Preparation to Increase Bond Strength of Paint or Coating
Etching, Frosting, or Producing a Matte Finish on Metal, Glass, or Stone
    Water Jetting Media
Jobs Requiring a High Production Rate or Non-Ferrous Media
    Blasting/Cutting Hard Materials
Removal of Rust, Paint, Scale, etc. from Fabricated Components
    Cutting Stone, Metal, Glass, etc.
    Creating Specific Surface Profile
