    The EBENA factory operated for 10 years in Belgium, 1921-1931.
    The EBENA / plastic was originally albumen and sawdust. In 1922, it was made from copal, a natural resin from the Belgian Congo / Zaire. EBENA pieces are often identified as Bakelite.

    I read that the space under the lid was for a sea sponge for moisture for the tobacco
