    Description

Great Antique Porcelain Horse Head Figural Tobacco Jar
This very neat figural 2 piece horse head tobacco jar was made by Royal Rudolstadt between 1885 and 1918 in Germany. It is larger than most of the old porcelain tobacco jars, measuring 7 1/2" long and 8 1/2" high. There was a hairline crack when I purchased it. The hairline has since been bonded and now tight with a good solid sound when tapped. I have bonded many hairlines in porcelain & pottery in the last 20 years using latex cement bonding liquid. It works great.  The hairline follows the reins under the head on the horse's right side. There are no chips or flakes and very good paint.  This horse tobacco jar has such a great look and good detail.  I could not find any like this on the internet. It weighs about 1 1/2 pounds.
