RARE Antique 14K YELLOW GOLD Hand-Carved CAMEO Carnelian SHELL Ring - Left Facing 7.5
Antique/vintage solid 14K yellow gold carved carnelian shell cameo ring. This exceptionally fine shell cameo is hand-carved to depict the left-facing profile of a woman with classical features in Greco-Roman dress. Cameo is set in a 14K gold bezel which is elaborately framed with both twisted ribbon & rope design elements and mounted on a unique split shank band. The rarer left-facing profile, fineness of hand-carving, cameo size, and distinctive gold setting make this a truly exceptional piece.
It likely dates to the Victorian period, possibly the early Art Nouveau-era.
The scale/size of this ring is ideal and flattering. Slightly larger than average, it is just grand enough to command attention on the hand, without the overwhelming dimensions of a cocktail ring.

In excellent vintage condition with NO damage or visible wear. Cameo moves just the tiniest bit within the bezel setting, but this is likely due to the slightly out-of-round edges of the cameo. It is definitely not so loose that it’s in danger of falling out or being damaged.
